Digital Twins have been revolutionizing industries for decades. In aviation a twin of an aircraft is flown for tens of thousands of hours in simulation before ever taking to the air. In weather science twins or weather models are continually run in fast forward to prepare for things like landfall of a typhoon saving countless lives.

Twins have also been applied to healthcare helping to speed drugs to market in times of need such as during the global pandemic. However these health twins have been localized to cells or tissues and the mechanism of action of a drug on them. Today, we hold the process of exploring the human system and its reaction to more complex interventions like sleep, diet, exercise and pills on the entire body.

Paul has loved to model things as far back as he can remember. His passion for modeling and photography afforded him the opportunity to stop, examine intricacies, and explore why they exist. Almost 15 years ago he brought his modeling expertise to South Africa to explore how the onslaught of chronic diseases could be avoided as people migrated off the plains of Africa into urban centers. Ever since that time he has been relentless in his application of simulation to help manage disease but more importantly to guide health.

Today, it is the center of everything he does as he has seen the promise of digital twins in other areas and knows they can change how we live.

It is this hybrid experience base that makes our PhD team truly different. We firmly believe that unless you can represent your insights in code and math, you cannot truly problem solve.

Our team also has deep experience in human centered design techniques. When we say that we appreciate that every patient is different, we mean it. There are far too many novel ideas that simply do not work for consumers. We think about overcoming that every day.
